Transept has been providing data management and analysis services to local authorities, public transport operators and third parties for over ten years. We offer a flexible approach, working in partnership with our clients to ensure tasks are correctly specified to meet their specific requirements. We also aim to work holistically with other third parties such as system and software suppliers to form a focused and responsive project team.

Data Management Services
Given Transepts experience in managing public transport data (see below) and Real Time Information (see separate section), we’ve found clients have asked us to look at other data sources for them. This work has included reviewing draft timetables for contract services and cross referencing these with data captured through RTI systems, assessing journey times, or analyzing ticketing data, for example for concessionary fares or contract service purposes. The knowledge, attention to detail and flexibility of our staff means that we can usually find a way to meet these new challenges, and we pride ourselves on always trying to find a way to help our clients. Why not give us a call to see if we can help you?
Public Transport Data Services
For the last decade, Transept has worked with a number of local authorities to manage their local public transport service, NaPTAN (National Public Transport Access Nodes) and National Gazetteer databases. These local databases are uploaded to regional or national clearing houses on a weekly basis, and from here go on to form part of the national dataset of public transport services used by Traveline, Transport Direct and other third parties.
Our work includes liaison with local authorities, public transport operators and regional data managers to ensure data is accurate, and service/timetable changes are administered in a timely fashion to meet the standards and timescales required by Traveline.
At Transept we understand that a single dataset is often required to meet multiple priorities, such as publicity production either on-street or in leaflet form, feeding into a real time information system, use with Urban Traffic Management and Control (UTMC), and local authority websites, as well as in the online journey-planning solutions provided by Traveline and Transport Direct. Accuracy is therefore of paramount importance and we recognize that this can only be achieved through attention to detail, and a close working relationship with all interested parties. We are proud to have kept a consistently low Traveline error percentage for both timetable data and the associated NaPTAN bus stop data where we manage this.
For a number of years we have worked with software supplier OmniBus. Using their OmniStop software, we can design, produce and maintain at-stop bus stop publicity, and are capable of producing specialised displays for particular stops and services. This can be valuable for a contract service where a unique style of publicity is required to match route branding or meet specific. We have also worked with local authorities who wish to export data for use within timetable leaflets/booklets, or who wish to display the information on their websites.
